Volunteer experience to the home of respect for aged

On the 21st of January, Elaine called me about she has found a home of respect for aged that can let us do volunteer there, so we took notes of the telephone number and decided to go there tomorrow.

The leaders of the home of elderly told us if we want to get the verification we must talk with these old people and do something for them, so we prepared for a long time to decide what we can do to help them.

The next day, on 22ed of January (and on 4th of february we also went in it too) we found that home of respect for aged. Before we went in it, we went to the SuGuo to buy some fruits, such as some oranges and bananas so that each one can get one.

We looked all the elders and talked with them about the environment there, we also do something they can’t do there such as dumped the rubbish and wash the fruits for them, we even used ourselves’ money to bought a lot of things for one old woman, these things include a scissor, a clock, a bow of lantern and some batteries because her children didn’t give her any money and she has no money to buy these things.

I talked with the oldest woman in this place, she has just celebrated her 100-year-old birthday in Nanjing by her granddaughter. Thought she is very old now, she is very happy and friendly, she also has good eyesight and hearing, and she can even chalk with us clearly. One old women I talked with originally I didn’t like her, she always let us to talk with only herself but didn't let us to meet with other elders, and we all thought she is a little bit selfish, but after she talked of her family, we also thought she is very poor, her children didn’t want to take care of her cause she is disability because of the disease, no one lives with her and she feels very lonely, so she wants others to take more care about her. We can’t say she is selfish, we just can say her children are selfish, abandon the person who is the most love them in the world.

After talked with these people, we knew that many of the old people are not take cared by their children, their children think they are rubbish and let them go to the home of elderly so that the workers there can instead of them and they are free, they just need to give the home of respect for aged 1200 each month.

Do our mother and father will like this in the future? No! They are the people who most love me, I can’t treat them as these elders’ children, I will live with them until they died, I will take care of them by myself. I can't let them feel lonely like these elders feel .

I will also go to the home of respect for aged to see those poor elders, because they told us what is love and what is family.I will also talk and play with them to make them happy, then they could feel not very lonely because they know there are someone one who love them and take care of them in the world.
